Introduction to Recruiting and First-time Hires

Taking on an employee for the first time (or few times) is a huge responsibility and can have a big impact on your business. Getting it wrong can be time-consuming and costly, stalling your short-term growth and even deterring you from hiring again in the future. 

Our half-day training course helps you create the right environment to hire, run a successful recruitment campaign and set-up the necessary infrastructure for a positive employment experience. We help you to feel confident in making the leap to become an employer and getting the right person on-board first time.

  • Building the business case to hire (why and when) and key considerations before you do
  • Creating the right environment to recruit and what you’ll need to become an employer
  • Getting started with your first hire (business needs analysis, salary setting and role design)
  • Candidate attraction, advertising campaigns and low/no-cost ways to engage applicants
  • Making shortlisting decisions and effective interview techniques
  • Introduction to employment law, offer paperwork, references and employee record-keeping

Performance Management and Hiring Salespeople

Recruiting a salesperson is a common first hire for many businesses. With the prospect of increased revenues and new customers to off-set the cost of wages and overheads, it’s seen as a low-risk way to grow your team with potentially high returns. However, great salespeople can be hard to come by – from attracting them to your business in the first place, to trusting them with your prospective customers and supporting them to hit those all-important numbers.

Workforce Planning Strategies and Scaling up your Team

Workforce planning helps you to prepare your business for growth by assessing upcoming demand, identifying the required resource and creating a tailored solution to ensure capacity, skills and expertise are available when you need them. 

Our one-day training course for business owners, MDs and HR managers helps you anticipate and plan for change, design more agile processes aligned with strategic priorities and overcome current and future workforce-related risks. Whether you’re considering interim operational plans for the year ahead or longer-term strategic goals as you scale to sell or exit, you’ll learn how to examine your current team, key stages involved in workforce planning and practical methodologies to drive growth through people.
